Using the Web Part
This page provides information about using the toolbar, breadcrumb and file
viewer pane. Other functions are contained on different pages as outlined
below
Using the toolbar
The toolbar currently supports three functions
-
New Document - use this to create a new document based on the specified
template for the document library. When saving this document, the user will be
automatically prompted to save the file in the web part's currently selected
folder.
-
Upload Document - this button will take the use to the upload page for the
document library, where the user can upload a new file to the selected folder.
-
New Folder - allows the user to create a new folder as a child
of the current folder.
Using the file viewer
The file viewer will display the files and folders that are contained in the
currently selected folder. It will display fields that are specifed
in the view that the web part is configured to use. If the view contains
sorting and filtering information, this information will be used to retrieve
the files.
You can use the file viewer in much the same way you would use a standard list
view web part. Different hyperlinks will take you to different information
pages based on what information the field contains.
Items can be sorted by a specific column by clicking the hyperlink in the
column header. Reverse the sort order by clicking the hyperlink repeated times.
If the view used is configured to use paging (ie files are displayed in batches
of a specified size), then a paging control will be visible at the bottom of
the file viewer. The paging control will allow both forward and backward
movement between pages, and will give the user information about which page
they are currently viewing.
Using the bread crumb
The bread crumb control located above the file viewer pane will give you
feedback as to where you are in the folder hierarchy. You can move back up the
hierarchy by clicking the hyperlinks for each of the parent folders. The
current folder is not shown as a hyperlink.
Files can also be moved or copied to parent folders as the folders
displayed also act as drop targets.
